American Tungsten drilling supports expansion of IMA resource

American Tungsten (TSX-V:TUNG) has reported further drilling success at its IMA Mine Project in Idaho, US, with new results supporting resource expansion while confirming continuity across key tungsten-bearing vein systems.

The current drill program is targeting extensions of known mineralisation along strike and at depth, particularly in underexplored areas with strong geological continuity. The company has completed about 792m of drilling to date.

The IMA Mine Project is a past-producing tungsten mine on 22 patented claims in east-central Idaho. Between 1934 and 1982, it produced more than 198,000 tonnes of tungsten oxide (WO₃). American Tungsten is working to expand the historic resource while advancing plans for a readily permissible, small-scale mining operation.

The latest results include six additional drill holes, four of which intersected multiple stacked tungsten-bearing polymetallic veins.

One hole intersected nine separate veins, including 4.88m grading 1.20% WO₃ in the No. 5 vein and 3.41m grading 0.87% WO₃ in the No. 7 vein. The remaining three holes also returned broad intercepts from the two vein systems.

American Tungsten says the results confirm continuous tungsten-silver mineralisation along more than 274m of strike at the No. 5 and No. 7 veins, with the system remaining open in multiple directions.

“The geological and technical work completed to date continues to demonstrate the strength of the mineralised system and supports our belief that there remains meaningful opportunity to expand the project’s long-term potential,” CEO Ali Haji says.

Separately, the company completed due diligence that included a surface mineralisation assessment. The assessment indicates that several principal tungsten-bearing structures associated with the historic IMA Mine originate on the property before extending beyond the patented claim boundaries. 

American Tungsten believes those findings strengthen its development rights over key mineralised vein systems, including the No. 5 and No. 7 veins, adding strategic value as it advances the project.

The company is working towards an updated mineral resource estimate, which will support a preliminary economic assessment.
