ABx Group (ASX:ABX) has secured approval to begin a 39-hole drilling program at the T8 rare earth element (REE) discovery in Tasmania.
The program, which is expected to begin on 10 November 2025, will expand the T8 discovery.
CEO Mark Cooksey says the company is investigating a low-cost, low-impact method of rapidly developing this rare earth province.
“ABx is excited to be drilling for extensions of this shallow, high-grade rare earth mineralisation which confirmed that all of ABx’s REE mineralisation in northern Tasmania are exceptionally high-grade in dysprosium and terbium which is potentially globally significant and unmatched in Australia,” Cooksey says.
The equipment that has been assembled for the program is designed to cover a wide area with no impact on the grazing land where the rare earths occur.
ABx’s Tasmanian projects are suited to early low-cost production due to being shallow, ionic absorption clay-type rare earth resources enriched in dysprosium and terbium.
ABx Group is a critical materials-focused company that aims to supply light and heavy weight rare earths from Tasmania into western supply chains.
