Winsome Resources (ASX:WR1) has identified the presence of a new pegmatite dyke following a recently concluded field exploration program at its Adina Project in Quebec.
The Perth-based, lithium-focused exploration and development company, announces that that the newly identified outcropping pegmatite is located about 1km north-east and is reportedly unconnected to any other previously identified and sampled dykes.
Speaking on the new pegmatite outcrop, Winsome’s Managing Director Chris Evans, commented: “The team has done an outstanding job to cover so much of the ground at Adina over the past three weeks and to have made further discoveries of pegmatites in the project area.
They have taken rock chip samples which are now on their way to the lab and expect results within the next six weeks. We are hopeful those results will show additional mineralisation.

Our intention is to continue progressing quickly with the follow-up exploration activities and work towards being able to announce a resource for Adina, while simultaneously advancing Cancet and our other existing projects in the region.”
The company also notes that its two exploration teams have completed 3 weeks in the field at Adina, with new drilling targets for the upcoming autumn/winter campaign expected to be generated soon.
In addition, rock chip samples taken from the new outcrop, as well as from the other areas of exploration, have been sent for assaying with results expected to be returned in about 6 weeks.
The Adina Project is located in Quebec, Canada and was mapped in 2016, following a successful maiden drilling of 10 holes, covering 1,726m completed in 2018.
The project comprises a 2km potential strike indicated by a pegmatite ridge, with initial drilling returning several well mineralised, albeit narrow intervals of mineralisation which warrants additional field prospecting and mapping.
With the recent campaign now complete, Winsome Resources announces that it has received a heli-portable diamond drill rig and will submit permits for surface stripping of the new pegmatite dyke while the field teams are on their two weeks break.
The upcoming diamond drilling operation is expected to commence in late September or early October.
Lithium is currently on the US and Canada’s critical mineral list. A lack of financing is expected to lead to lower supply – particularly in the next five years, with the world lithium market requiring exponential growth in the next decade.
Winsome reports that lithium is essential to Canada’s economic security and is required for the country’s transition to a low-carbon economy. The ‘Lithium boom 2’ is underway and underpinned by vehicle electrification, with Canada announcing goal of 100% zero emission vehicle sales by 2035.
North America is focusing on internal supply chains and downstream processing to reduce the reliance on current external suppliers.
