SAGA Metals (TSX-V:SAGA) has announced the consolidation of its Legacy and Amirault Lithium projects into a single expanded project, the Legacy Lithium Project, located in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of Québec, Canada.
This consolidation follows the completion of a targeted work program and fieldwork at Amirault, on the southern section of the project, that reinforces the presence of lithium-cesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatite signatures across the property.
SAGA has completed additional staking in the area of prospective metasedimentary rocks and known pegmatite occurrences, expanding the consolidated project to 72,107.64 hectares, which is up from 65,849 hectares.
CGO Michael Garagan says that this consolidated project, combined with key mineralogical indicators, has provided an enhanced exploration thesis for the company.
“The consistency of key indicator minerals such as muscovite, garnet, and apatite in pegmatite samples across both the northern and southern portions of the project is highly encouraging and supports the potential for a district-scale LCT system.”
SAGA is awaiting grab sample assays from recent fieldwork that will be incorporated into the project’s exploration model as the company advances planning for future exploration work.
The company notes that a helicopter-borne aeromagnetic survey over the Legacy Project conducted by Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) and Geotech revealed a magnetically active area with multiple distinct magnetic highs and lows that warrant further investigation.
Regional consolidation and growth
SAGA notes that the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region is one of North America’s top hard-rock lithium districts, and has seen significant consolidation among explorers and developers, as companies see the need for scale to drive growth.
The company points to recent regional consolidation activity, including Li-FT Power’s (TSX-V:LIFT) acquisition of Winsome Resources in May 2026, which expanded Li-FT’s land position in the James Bay region.
SAGA says this forms part of a broader wave of consolidation across the region, with juniors, mid-tiers, and majors actively acquiring companies, entering joint ventures, or consolidating land to drive growth. The company also notes that this drive for exploration activity reflects lithium’s strong underlying fundamentals as demand growth is driven by electric vehicles, energy storage, and other strategic sectors.
Spodumene concentrate prices (6% lithium oxide, CIF China) recovered strongly during 2026, rising from around C$1,560–1,590 ($1,589–1,620) per tonne in early January 2026 to around C$2,190–2,260 per tonne by mid-January. Prices continued to strengthen before stabilising at C$2,500–2,600 per tonne in late May, which is the strongest level in over two years.
Once grab sample assays are received, SAGA plans to integrate the results with historical exploration data, Geotech’s interpretation, and existing geological and geochemical datasets to guide future exploration programs.
SAGA Metals is a North American mining company focused on exploration and discovery of critical minerals that support supply security for the North American markets.
