After conducting a soil sampling program, Tempest Minerals (ASX:TEM) has highlighted further prospectivity at the Remorse target, as part of the Yalgoo Project in Western Australia.
As part of ongoing fieldwork, 80 soil samples were collected to the south of the main Remorse geochemical anomaly, where access was previously not possible during the first campaign.
Samples were assayed using Labwest Ultrafine technique in parallel with comprehensive scanning using Boxscan technology.
Tempest, which has a market capitalisation of $6.27 million, says the recent work that tested unsampled areas to the south of the main Remorse target shows continuity of the copper-zinc anomalism into this area.
Samples within the newly sampled area consistently recorded assay values over 60 parts per million (ppm) copper and 70ppm zinc, with a peak of 167ppm copper and 125ppm zinc. The greater anomaly is now 5km by 1.5km in dimension.
Speaking to Mining.com.au, Managing Director Don Smith says this announcement highlights the previous work completed and the discussion about the copper found in the soil geochemistry.
“And then that leads into some scanning that we’ve been doing and there’s a whole lot of nerdy geology stuff in there, but the highlight is that we’ve also found copper minerals floating around in our soil samples,” Smith says.
Earthworks are in progress at Remorse and are nearing completion. The company is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the drilling contractor in anticipation of testing the prospectivity of Remorse.
“There’s still a bit of track maintenance yet to be done and we need some sun for that,” Smith adds.
“For those of you in Western Australia, you know we got pasted with half an inch of rain on the weekend.”
The first results from the upcoming drilling program are anticipated to be received during the fourth quarter of this year.
Tempest Minerals holds more than 1,000km2 of highly prospective tenure in the Yalgoo region of Western Australia. The company previously announced the presence of “large-scale” copper-zinc anomalies at Remorse, based on geology, geochemistry, and geophysics that it is progressing towards drilling and that sampling of a previously incomplete block was recently completed.
