White Cliff winds up first phase of Canadian field programs 

White Cliff Minerals (ASX:WCN) has completed the first phase of its field work programs at the Great Bear and Rae projects in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, Canada. 

The programs were designed to confirm field locations of historical results and define priority target areas for drilling later this quarter. 

At Great Bear, White Cliff, which has a market capitalisation of $25.25 million, identified and sampled four separate iron oxide-copper-gold systems. 

The Glacier target hosts chalcopyrite-bornite cemented breccias and veining within strong potassic alteration over more than 1,100km of identified strike length. 

The Cleaver target hosts widespread and fresh chalcopyrite mineralisation covering a 785m by 460m area, including uranium recordings of up to 4,000 counts per second within earthy hematite structures. 

White Cliff is preparing follow-up campaigns for the third quarter of this year at the Solan, Mariner, and Doghead targets, located in the northern part of the project area which was not visited during phase one. 

Managing Director Troy Whittaker says the company delivered a safe program at both highly prospective Canadian projects, on time and on budget. 

“Pleasingly, all historically identified mineralisation across the projects has been extended laterally, highlighting the scale potential at Great Bear and Rae,” Whittaker says. 

“I look forward to assay results confirming what our onsite visual assessments have concluded and to the commencement of drilling later this quarter. We are at the first and most exciting stage in the identification of what we believe are multiple, district-scale mineralised complexes at both projects.”

At the Rae Project, vertical broad shear zones with extensive quartz veining and semi massive to massive copper sulphides were uncovered at the HALO, Cu-TAR, DON, and PAT targets, with follow-up sampling extending the strike length at HALO to more than 800m. 

White Cliff adds at CALMAL and HALO, there is evidence of sedimentary hosted copper mineralisation, while there is widespread native copper mineralisation at Kilauea. 

The company collected 175 samples from Great Bear, and 100 samples from Rae. Results are expected in two to three weeks for Bear, and a further two to three weeks thereafter for Rae. 

Whittaker adds that over the next two months the company will finalise drilling plans for Great Bear, subject to ongoing permitting requirements. 

“Receipt of assays and geophysics from both projects will strengthen our understanding and confidence for the upcoming drilling campaign,” he says.

“What we are seeing here is only the beginning at Great Bear. This area is still untapped with several further high-priority and highly prospective areas yet to be visited as part of the next onsite campaigns in the coming months.”
