Westgold awards Barminco Great Fingall contract

Westgold Resources (ASX:WGX) has awarded Perenti’s (ASX:PRN) underground mining business Barminco, a three-year development and production contract for the Great Fingall Mine in Western Australia valued at $200 million.

The scope of works include mine development, production, and associated underground mining services with mobilisation expected to begin in July 2025.

Perenti CEO Mark Norwell says this award highlights the depth and scale of Barminco’s mining and technical capability and supports the ongoing focus of growing the underground mining business.

“This project further increases Australian earnings for Perenti and supports our ongoing focus on year-on-year sustainable cash generation,” Norwell says.

Meanwhile, President of Contract Mining Gabrielle Iwanow says Westgold’s decision is an endorsement of the strength of the company’s technical capability.

Westgold, which has a market capitalisation of $2.74 billion, says the award of this contract for one of its smaller operations provides the company with the opportunity to redeploy its team and equipment currently at Great fingall to its larger, owner operated mines.

These mines include Beta Hunt in the Southern Goldfields and the Bluebird-South Junction mine in the Murchison region.

CEO Wayne Bramwell says Westgold is focusing on increasing mine productivity and further leveraging its extensive capital base.

“The Great Fingall mine is a smaller mine and as such lends itself to contract mining,” Bramwell says.

“We look forward to first production from Great Fingall in early FY26.”

Westgold Resources is an established Australian gold producer with a portfolio of growth projects in Western Australia.

Perenti is a diversified mining services company with businesses in contract mining, drilling services, mining support services and technology solutions.

Westgold Resources will be attending the Noosa Mining Investor Conference, held between 23-25 July, at the Peppers Noosa Resort.
