Western Yilgarn encounters potential lithium bearing pegmatite at Boodanoo

Western Yilgarn (ASX:WYX) has encountered a potential lithium bearing pegmatite target following an auger geochemistry program at its Boodanoo Project in Western Australia.

The results, generated from 234 auger holes completed on a 1,600 x 100m grid, have defined a lithium bearing target over a 3km by 2km anomaly, and is considered to be associated with a main north-south shear zone.

Western Yilgarn notes portable x-ray fluorescence (pXRF) multielement screening of phase one samples have also identified a series of follow-up targets, including the 3km by 2km anomaly.

The company says the auger geochemistry program will resume with targeted infill drilling in order to further refine targets, as well as enable follow-up aircore (AC) and reverse circulation (RC) drilling.

Addressing the discovery, Western Yilgarn Chairman, Peter Lewis, says: “The first pass auger campaign has confirmed the exciting potential residing in Western Yilgarn’s Boodanoo Project.

“The first pass auger campaign has confirmed the exciting potential residing in Western Yilgarn’s Boodanoo Project.”

In consort with our Bulga Project to the east, and the Darling Range Project which is strategically adjacent to the discoveries by Chalice Mining, we are developing a pipeline of promising early-stage exploration projects which we have commenced to systematically explore.”

The company also notes this discovery has been made following the execution of a binding agreement to purchase an additional tenement in the centre of its Bulga Project in WA, as announced by Western Yilgarn last month.

Western Yilgarn reports the acquisition added an extra 48km-square to the consolidated Bulga project and brings its exploration package directly along strike of the Ida Fault to 477km.

With phase two exploration set to begin, Western Yilgarn announces it is awaiting assays from the main north/south Shear Zone.

Western Yilgarn is an ASX-listed early stage mineral exploration company engaged in the valuation and development of ‘highly prospective’ projects across WA’s emerging premier mining jurisdictions.

The company’s Boodanoo project is located 90km south of Mount Magnet and comprises one granted exploration licence which covers an area of 39km-square.

The project represents 1 of 5 projects situated across WA. Other projects include the Bulga Project near Leinster, the Sylvania Project in the Pilbara, the Melbourne Project in the lower mid-west, and the Darling Range Project around 70km north of Perth.
