Western Mines restarts drilling for 2026

Western Mines Group (ASX:WMG) has restarted drilling at the Mulga Tank Project in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields, focusing on outstanding holes from last year’s phase four drilling campaign.

Following up on last year’s campaign, Western Mines will target an extension to diamond hole MTRC009, as well as nine reverse circulation holes that intend to infill and expand the area’s resource estimate.

After completing this section of the drilling campaign, Western Mines will conduct follow up drilling at holes that previously returned ‘high grade’ results in the main body of the Mulga Tank complex.

Western Mines will also test the mineralised komatiite sequence at tenement E39/2134 with a combination of reverse circulation and diamond drilling. The company will utilise a grant from the state government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS) grant to cover drilling at the Panhandle area.

As reported by Mining.com.au, the company received a $180,000 grant from the grant scheme in October 2025, covering komatiite targets at the project.

Managing Director Caedmon Marriott says the team is ready to get stuck back into drilling after the New Year’s break.

“Thanks to our October capital raise, and numerous EIS grants, we’re well funded to be able to deliver consistent drilling over the next several months,” Marriott says.

“We’ll first finish off a few holes we didn’t manage to complete at the end of last year before commencing our next phase of drilling continuing to target high grade areas within the main body of the complex as well as the mineralised komatiite body within the Panhandle area.”

The Mulga Tank Project is an extensive magmatic nickel sulphide mineral system with an initial resource of more than 5.3 million tonnes of contained nickel.

Western Mines Group is a junior mineral explorer focused on a range of critical and battery minerals in Australia.
