Vizsla Copper (TSX-V:VCU) has intersected 49.2m of sulphide mineralisation during initial drilling at its Palmer Copper-Zinc VMS Project in southeast Alaska, US.
The visual intercept from the South Wall Zone includes 14m of massive copper-rich sulphides, with estimated true thicknesses of 39m and 11.2m, respectively. Laboratory assays are pending, and visual estimates may not reflect the grades ultimately reported.
Vizsla Copper has completed five diamond drillholes totalling 2,242m under its fully funded 10,000m exploration program, with two rigs operating at the project.
Initial drilling has focused on a ‘high-grade’ copper-rich core identified within Zone 1 during the 2023 program. Two holes totalling 750m tested the target and encountered semi-massive to massive chalcopyrite-pyrite mineralisation, including copper-rich and zinc-rich intervals.
One of the holes intersected the 49.2m mineralised interval, while the second reached the upper portion of the mineralisation before entering highly fractured and faulted ground. The company terminated the latter hole early because of drilling difficulties. A third hole targeting the core down-dip is in progress.
CEO Craig Parry says the initial observations indicate the program is advancing as planned.
“These early observations provide us with confidence that we are successfully executing our strategy of expanding known mineralisation while testing the significant exploration potential that exists across the broader district,” Parry says.
Two completed holes also tested the deeper Zone 2 horizon, generating geological and structural information for an updated geological model.
Vizsla Copper says it plans to drill one additional hole at South Wall before moving to the HG and Waterfall prospects, which lie between the Palmer and AG deposits.
Regional work during the field season will include geological mapping, structural interpretation, photogrammetry, and target refinement across Mount Henry Clay, Christmas Creek, and other areas within the Palmer district.
