Great Boulder Resources (ASX:GBR) has intersected visible gold at the Eaglehawk deposit within the greater Side Well Gold Project in Western Australia, correlating the finding with a previously encountered west-dipping vein.
Gold was apparent between 154m to 155m down-hole in drillhole 25EHRC024, with a sample awaiting priority assay to be returned in 21 days.
This was uncovered within a greater reverse circulation drilling program, where the company completed 27 reverse circulation drillholes across 4,544m.
The program comprises 21 resource definition holes within the Eaglehawk deposit, and the remaining six between the deposit and Mulga Bill.
The latest installment of assays include 8m @ 4.37 grams per tonne gold from 146m including 3m @ 9.75g/t gold from 146m, 1m @ 9.51g/t gold from 136m, and 2m @ 3.46g/t gold from 73m.
As previously reported by Mining.com.au, the first 10 holes returned assays including intersections of 8m @ 29.18g/t gold from 128m, including 4m @ 54.80g/t gold from 128m.
Managing Director Andrew Paterson describes this as an exciting time for the company, which is actively pursuing a resource definition for the deposit while an aircore drill rig intends to test recently defined targets in the Eaglehawk – Ironbark area.
“It’s always exciting to see visible gold at the rig,” Paterson says.
“We’ve seen these bonanza gold zones at Mulga Bill before, and as they’re relatively small structures there are likely to be a lot more within the Mulga Bill – Eaglehawk system that we haven’t found yet.
“Once again this demonstrates the capacity of this deposit to surprise us with extraordinary results.”
Great Boulder is continuing to progress technical programs at the Ironbark deposit, with the groundwater study and waste rock characterisation nearing completion as surface water studies begin.
Upon completion of these programs, the company will move towards a geotechnical assessment and metallurgical testing at the area.
Located near Meekatharra in Western Australia, Side Well is Great Boulder’s flagship project, hosting a resource estimate of 668,000 ounces @ 2.8g/t gold.
