Viking Mines (ASX:VKA) has begun conducting high-resolution geophysics at the Linka Tungsten Project in Nevada to map the subsurface extent of the tungsten skarn system and identify new drill targets.
By leveraging the contrast between skarn mineralisation and surrounding host rocks, Viking intends to test for direct mineralisation signatures.
The survey will utilise 20m line spacing for a 2.2km2 magnetic survey beneath the Bates Mountain Tuff and across older exposed host rocks, with possibility for extension across the broader claim package to derisk future exploration activities.
Results are expected to be returned in February for drilling beginning in April 2026.
CEO Julian Woodcock says mobilising a geophysics team at the Linka Project is another milestone for the company since entering an agreement to acquire the asset.
“Historical data confirms the potential for an expansive mineralised system, currently outcropping over 820m strike length and interpreted to continue under cover,” Woodcock says.
“These surveys will provide key new datasets to build our 3D geological model and identify the most prospective zones prior to drilling.
“We are testing for specific density and magnetic contrasts that, if successful, will serve as a direct targeting tool across our entire claim block.
“This precision-led approach ensures that the planned April drilling program is effectively targeted at the most high-value parts of the mineralised system.”
As reported by Mining.com.au in December 2025, the company entered into a binding terms sheet with US-based BLK Group to acquire six tungsten projects in Nevada, including the Linka, Alpine, Long, Terrell, Ragged, and Victory projects.
The company engaged specialist contractors Rock Bottom Geosciences to conduct high-resolution ground geophysical surveys at the project, as reported.
