Viking highlights Linka’s widespread tungsten

Viking Mines (ASX:VKA) has identified widespread ‘high-grade’ tungsten mineralisation from face sampling at the Linka Project in Nevada, US.

The company is conducting a due diligence sampling program across its Nevada-based tungsten portfolio, returning 14.7% tungsten trioxide and 5.2% tungsten trioxide from face sampling at the Conquest pit within the Linka Project.

CEO Julian Woodcock says the assay of 14.7% tungsten trioxide “underscores the quality of these assets”.

“More importantly, the consistent grades we are seeing across Linka, Hillside, and Conquest match our historical expectations,” Woodcock says.

“These results, when combined with our developing 3D data models and planned geophysical surveys, will give us a high level of confidence as we finalise our drill targets for the upcoming Nevada drilling campaign.”

Viking also yielded 4.4m @ 0.6% tungsten trioxide at the Hillside shaft within the Linka Project, which the company says confirms the tenor of the tactite zone.

Ramp sampling at the pit returned 5m @ 0.7% tungsten trioxide, and assays up to 0.8% tungsten trioxide from grab samples at the company’s Long and Alpine projects, also in Nevada.

Viking collected a total of 64 samples from its four projects in Nevada, which will guide future drilling campaigns.

As reported by Mining.com.au, the company engaged specialist contractors Rock Bottom Geosciences to conduct high-resolution ground geophysical surveys at the project, beginning this month.

Viking Mines is an exploration and development company, currently focused on developing its tungsten acquisitions in Nevada, US.
