Viking recovers historic markers at Linka

Viking Mines (ASX:VKA) has completed a high-resolution drone survey and ground investigation at the Linka Project in Nevada, a key step needed in the company’s strategy to fast-track the project.

The work completed provides 2cm pixel resolution imagery and a detailed digital elevation model of the project, combining aerial data with historical records to create a high-fidelity “digital twin” of the project area.

Viking notes that the most critical outcome of the ground investigation was the recovery of five original survey markers from the 1970s.

The process is enabling Viking to transform the historical drill locations into precise three-dimensional coordinates, validating the $1 million replacement value of the drilling data recently acquired, as previously reported.

CEO Julian Woodcock calls the drone survey “the final piece of the puzzle” in the company’s data integration.

“It allows us to extract maximum value from our historical datasets by locking them into a modern coordinate system,” Woodcock says.

“We are no longer working with estimates; we now have a centimetre-perfect map to guide our drilling and development programs.”

The digitisation of the historical exploration database will provide Viking with georeferencing and detailed spatial coordinates, fully digitised maps and cross-sections, and will be used to finalise the drill targets for a notice of intent submission to federal agencies.

Additionally, Viking Mines is currently focused on metallurgical testwork on a metallurgical sample from the Linka Pit, with results expected in February 2026. The company also has technical evaluations underway for five new tungsten projects for potential acquisition.

Viking Mines is a diversified exploration and development company with assets in tungsten, gold, and vanadium in Nevada and Western Australia.
