Viking Mines (ASX:VKA) has engaged specialist contractors, Rock Bottom Geosciences, based out of Reno, Nevada, to conduct high-resolution ground geophysical surveys at the company’s Linka Project in Nevada, US.
The program is set to commence in February 2026 and marks a foundational step in the company’s data-driven strategy to advance Linka by delineating subsurface structures, mapping the bedrock geology, and identifying high-priority drill targets.
Managing Director Julian Woodcock says that the geophysics surveys are to be a bridge between the surface samples previously identified through metallurgical testwork and a future mineral resource.
“By undertaking these surveys, we are aiming to model the subsurface geology with the objective of defining blind drill targets,” Woodcock says.
“Viking is rapidly establishing a rigorous, data-driven strategic roadmap. This work is designed to test beyond the known 820m strike length mineralised corridor where it is interpreted to continue untested and under cover. We are optimistic that the surveys will identify where to target the drill rig to maximise our opportunity to define a substantial tungsten mineralised system.”
The results of these surveys will provide the foundational dataset ahead of drilling at Linka. The company is focused on understanding the subsurface geology so that drill pads can be best positioned to test the lateral limits of the system with high precision.
Viking also notes that the data will provide clear evidence of the scale and strike potential for the project, a critical component for the notice of intent submission to federal agencies for permitting.
Viking continues to digitise the historical exploration database that was recently required, as previously reported, as they advance exploration across the project. Current work includes progressing the testwork flowsheet of the Linka Pit sample, drill targeting, federal permitting submissions, and an overall portfolio assessment of the five additional Nevada tungsten projects.
