Impact Minerals’ (ASX:IPT) founding Chairman and cornerstone shareholder Peter Unsworth will retire effective 31 July 2025.
Paul Ingram, current non-executive director, will become the interim Chairman, effective 1 August 2025.
Impact has started a process to identify and appoint a new Chair to guide the company through its next phase of growth. This is built around bringing Lake Hope into production.
Unsworth has served as Chairman of Impact since its listing on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in November 2006.
The company says he has provided steadfast leadership through some of the most challenging periods in the resources sector.
His tenure has encompassed the global financial crisis, the 2011 Fukushima disaster during Impact’s early uranium focus, the prolonged downturn in the mining industry from 2013 to 2018, and the covid pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
Although serving in a non-executive capacity, Peter has consistently contributed far beyond the conventional remit of a Chairman.
Commenting on Unsworth’s departure, Managing Director Dr Mike Jones says the founding Chairman’s insight, integrity, and unwavering commitment to corporate governance and shareholder value have underpinned the company’s resilience and adaptability across almost two decades of exploration and project development.
“Peter’s retirement marks the end of a significant chapter in Impact Minerals’ history. His wisdom, guidance, and principled leadership have left a legacy that we all at Impact deeply respect and appreciate, especially myself,” Jones says.
“He leaves the company in excellent shape, having recently completed the Prefeasibility Study on our flagship Lake Hope High Purity Alumina project, secured a 50% interest in Alluminous, transactions in which Peter played a key role, as well as a very successful renounceable rights issue.
“On behalf of the board and staff, I extend our heartfelt thanks and wish Peter all the best for his retirement.”
Impact Minerals will be attending the Noosa Mining Investor Conference, held between 23-25 July, at the Peppers Noosa Resort. Mining.com.au is an official media partner of this year’s conference.
