Toubani Resources (ASX:TRE) has commenced construction at the Kobada Gold project in Mali following the Final Investment Decision reported last week.
Toubani brought together the traditional and customary chiefs from surrounding villages to mark the commencement of construction.
Key project milestones have been completed including the investment protocol with the State of Mali as well as the receipt of environmental, resettlement, and infrastructure permit approvals.
Managing Director Phil Russo says that the commencement of construction marks an important milestone for Toubani as they “transition from detailed preparation and planning into the next phase of development”.
“Cilvil work activities have commenced across key infrastructure sites including the plant, water storage dam, and tailings storage facility,” Russo says.
“While this moment reflects the significant work already completed, it also signals the start of a great deal of work ahead as we move forward with great momentum at Kobada, underpinning our vision to build the next leading gold producer in West Africa.”
The initial construction work is focused on bulk earthworks at the process plant, water dam, tailings storage facility, and accommodation facilities.
Toubani is preparing for the first foundation pourings in Q2 2026.
Key items have begun to be shipped, with materials for the CIL tanks construction set to arrive in the coming weeks.
Toubani is targeting first gold production in Q3 2027.
Toubani Resources is focused on advancing the oxide-dominant Kobada Gold Project into production.
