Tinka Resources (TSX-V:TK) has identified two “compelling” drill targets that support the exploration model for the Silvia Northwest Copper-Gold Project in Peru, after conducting a geophysical survey.
The 4km2 survey evaluated the potential for copper-gold skarn and porphyry mineralisation. Ground magnetotellurics (MT) identified a large, moderately conductive anomaly extending from 500m to more than 1,000m beneath Area B, where skarn, intrusive breccia, and anomalous copper mineralisation have already been identified at surface. The low-resistivity anomaly has not been drill tested.
A second anomaly, also untested, occurs 1km to the north.
New geophysical targets were also identified, which builds on results from a maiden drilling program conducted at Area A. The company interprets the drilled target at Area A to represent a low-grade copper skarn halo, with potential for stronger skarn and porphyry mineralisation at depth associated with the newly identified low-resistivity anomalies.
CEO Graham Carman says overall, the latest results strengthen the company’s confidence in Silvia’s potential.
“We are now completing a detailed 3D interpretation of the geophysical data, which will guide the next phase of exploration as we evaluate a follow-up drilling program in 2027,” Carman says.
“At Ayawilca, we are making good progress in our discussions with local communities to extend the social agreements. Our expectations remain that the first of these agreements will be coming before the end of Q3 and that activities onsite will ramp up shortly thereafter.”
The Silvia Project, covering 10,906 hectares, hosts copper–gold mineralisation which is associated with outcropping skarn. The Ayawilca Zinc-Silver-Tin Project, located in central Peru, is an emerging polymetallic deposit comprising a large resource of zinc, silver, tin, and indium.
