Thunderbird Resources (ASX:THB) has launched its first systematic exploration program at the Rockvale Gold-Antimony Project in New South Wales, aiming to define new drill targets adjacent to Larvotto Resources’ (ASX:LRV) Hillgrove Mine.
About 950 soil samples will be collected across a 10km by 5km area on a 400m x 100m grid.
The program is expected to be completed within three weeks, with assay results due by late December 2025 or early January 2026.
Upon completion, a maiden drill program will be conducted to follow-up soil anomalies that warrant testing.
The program centres on the Achill Gold-Antimony Prospect, where earlier rock samples returned assays of up to 4.65% antimony, 265 grams per tonne silver, and 0.35g/t gold. The area lies about 13km northeast of Hillgrove within a structural corridor bounded by the Hillgrove and Chandler faults.
Larvotto is currently targeting to restart production at the Hillgrove Mine in Q2 2026. The company recently received an unsolicited $750 million takeover offer from United States Antimony Corporation (NYSE:UAMY), as Mining.com.au reported.
On 27 October, Larvotto rejected the non-binding indicative offer as it ‘undervalued’ the company.
The Rockvale Project, covering 358km2, contains several antimony and gold prospects which were confirmed by historical exploration.
