Thunder Mountain restart a Pinnacle achievement

Pinnacle Minerals (ASX:PIM) is streamlining a mine restart study and exploration activities at the Lightning Peak open pit within its Thunder Mountain Gold–Silver Project in Idaho, US.

The program is designed to evaluate the potential restart of the historic Lightning Peak operation through a combination of technical, field, and geophysical studies.

Early work includes detailed geological mapping, analysis of historical rock chip and channel sample data, and processing of airborne magnetic and satellite datasets to define structural controls and identify new high-priority drill targets.

Assay results from recently collected samples are expected in the coming weeks and will be incorporated into a 3D model of the Lightning Peak pit to support redevelopment planning and permitting discussions with US regulators.

Managing Director Nic Witham says the restart study represents a significant step in revitalising a historic mining district through modern exploration methods.

“Our work at Thunder Mountain represents a genuine opportunity to bring historic US gold and silver mines back to life using modern exploration and technology,” Witham says.

“The verification of historical workings and confirmation of mineralisation within the project area reinforce the quality of the asset and highlight its strong potential.”

Current work at Thunder Mountain includes the interpretation of airborne magnetic surveys and multispectral satellite imagery to refine drill targets and improve understanding of the structural setting.

Datasets are intended to guide field mapping and drill permitting across several fault-bounded grabens identified as key mineralising structures.

The project is located about 8km from Perpetua Resources’ (NASDAQ:PPTA) $4 billion Stibnite Mine, covering a 3.68km² area within a historically productive gold and silver district.
