Tempest Minerals (ASX:TEM) has received all necessary approvals to launch a drilling program at the Remorse target within the Yalgoo Project in Western Australia.
Speaking to Mining.com.au, Managing Director Don Smith says the company has a busy 6-12 months ahead with at least four drill programs and a major geophysics survey plan to come.
“I’m really excited at the moment. The first thing, we’re basically waiting on the ground to get dry because it’s been absolutely saturated last month. And we’ll be up drilling our Remorse target, which is our outstanding copper, most compelling target I’ve seen in years,” Smith tells this news service.
“Technically, it’s amazing. So, we’ve been waiting to drill that one since basically last year, but we’ve been waiting on approvals. And we have those now and we’re going to drill that as soon as we physically can.”
Drilling is expected to kick off mid-July 2024 weather permitting, as earthworks has been delayed due to accessibility as a result of heavy rainfall and partial flooding in the area.
The program will initially comprise 5,000m of reverse circulation drilling for mid-July, with results of a recent geochemical survey also due around the same time.
Tempest is working closely with traditional owners to ensure cultural heritage is respected. All preparations are complete and the company is awaiting ground and weather conditions to improve so drilling can begin.
The Remorse target lies on the eastern side of Yalgoo. The company has previously noted the presence of “large-scale” copper-zinc geochem and geophysical anomalies and the intention to drill test these.
