Technical advisors join St George’s Araxa Project

A part of professional services multinational Worley (ASX:WOR) has been appointed to work on St George Minings (ASX:SGQ) Araxá Niobium-Rare Earths Project in Brazil.

Brazilian subsidiary Worley Engenharia will provide technical, engineering, and project management advice on developing a proposed niobium and rare earths mine at the company’s ‘world-class’ Araxá Project in Minas Gerais state.

St George will also leverage Worley’s capabilities in metallurgical and process engineering, feasibility and cost study work, process plant design, mine planning, and tailings management. It will also draw on Worley’s expertise in procurement, plant construction, and other aspects of project development.

“Worley will work … to deliver an optimal engineering strategy for the Araxá Project,” St George Mining Executive Chairman John Prineas says.

“The appointment of Worley will enable economic studies to gain momentum as we look to fast-track development and take advantage of our favourable project logistics … in an established mining region, access to existing transport and energy infrastructure, availability of an experienced workforce, and high-grade mineralisation amenable to open-pit mining.”

The company will now prepare to report on project economic studies.

St George Mining is a mineral explorer and mining project developer with assets primarily in Australia and Brazil.
