St George Mining (ASX:SGQ) has reported assays from 37 diamond drill holes at the Araxá Rare Earths and Niobium Project in Brazil.
The program confirmed extensive thick, ‘high-grade’ mineralisation from surface, including a 207m continuous intercept.
Standout rare earths results include 135.1m @ 4.86% total rare earth oxides (TREO) from surface in AXDD166, incorporating 69m @ 7.33% TREO from surface and 20m @ 12.65% TREO from surface.
AXDD165 returned 150.5m @ 3.66% TREO from surface, while AXDD142 delivered 207m at 2.60% TREO from surface.
Niobium results include AXDD167 returning 150.2m @ 0.72% niobium pentoxide (Nb2O5) from surface, including 50.7m @ 0.87% Nb2O5 from 32.9m and 19m @ 1.32% Nb2O5 from 85.0m.
AXDD165 delivered 150.5m @ 0.70% Nb2O5 from surface, incorporating 53m @ 1.21% Nb2O5 from surface.
“The latest drill results are arguably the best results so far in our drill campaign – including a new record thick intercept from surface of 207m,” Executive Chairman John Prineas says.
“The multiple thick intercepts from surface — many more than 150m thick — speak to the large volume of high-grade mineralisation at Araxá.”
Of the 37 holes, St George Mining drilled six outside the current mineral resource estimate (MRE), extending the known mineralised footprint by up to 140m to the north.
A further 13 holes intercepted ‘high-grade’ mineralisation deeper than the current modelled depth.
The results will feed into an updated MRE for Araxá, due for completion this quarter.
