Tarrina Resources (ASX:TR8) reports further gold results from its phase one diamond drilling program at the Christmas Gift Gold Project in New South Wales, confirming mineralisation over 1km of strike and to depths of 200m.
The company completed six diamond drill holes totalling 1,180m, with the widest and highest-grade intersections returned beneath the historic Christmas Gift mine.
Key assay results include 14.5m @ 2.23 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 58.0m and 16.4m @ 2.06g/t Au from 75.6m; 5.1m @ 2.39g/t Au from 36.9m and 4.6m @ 5.42g/t Au from 42.9m, as well as 0.5m @ 42.26g/t Au from 68.6m to end of hole.
Chairman Francis De Souza says these latest results continue to demonstrate that mineralisation at Christmas Gift extends beyond the historic mine.
“Gold intersections have now been confirmed over more than one kilometre of strike and beneath the historic mine workings, increasing the confidence in the broader gold system,” De Souza says.
“Our growing understanding of the project indicates the region has been deeply weathered and affected by supergene gold processes. As a result, much of the historic shallow drilling … did not adequately test the underlying high grade bedrock gold mineralisation.
“This presents an exciting opportunity for the company to make additional new gold discoveries along strike and depth at Christmas Gift.”
According to Tarrina, multiple parallel gold-bearing structures were also identified in the mine area, supporting the potential for repeated ‘high grade’ shoots across the broader system.
Located 15km east of Cootamundra in the Lachlan Fold Belt, the Christmas Gift Project comprises two exploration licences covering approximately 22km2.
Historic mining between 1892 and 1941 produced approximately 30,000 ounces of gold at an average grade of 18g/t Au.
Tarrina intends to complete detailed core logging and base metal assaying, with final results expected by the end of this month (July).
The company also plans to update its geological and gold grade models before planning follow-up aircore and reverse circulation drilling.
