Results support Sun Silver’s Maverick Springs resource expansion

Sun Silver (ASX:SS1) has received initial results from field work, which support the potential to expand the existing resource at the Maverick Springs Silver-Gold Project.

Maverick Springs, which lies in Nevada, US, hosts an inferred resource of 292 million contained silver-equivalent ounces @ 72.4 grams per tonne.

An initial rock chip sampling program was conducted, targeting the high priority northern section of the project area, with results returning up to 201 parts per million (ppm) arsenic.

Sun Silver, which has a market capitalisation of $61.2 million, says arsenic is a key pathfinder element used to find silver and gold prospects.

The company says all results are from locations outside the current pit-constrained resource shell with the furthest sample being collected 1.2km from the resource shell boundary.

Executive Director Gerard O’Donovan says the first phase of field work has led to the discovery of a new zone beyond the current resource boundary.

“Confirmation of elevated pathfinder elements such as arsenic — which returned readings of up to 201ppm with anomalous values extending up to 1.2km away from the resource boundary, instil confidence in the expansion potential,” he says.

“We plan to continue these fieldwork programs to refine drill targeting and conduct further sampling across the property.

“Additionally, we eagerly anticipate the mobilisation of Zonge International in the coming weeks to carry out gravity surveys across the property which will provide an important insight into the prospective geology.”

Meanwhile, Sun Silver has completed the tender period for a maiden drilling program at Maverick Springs. All tenders have been received and are under assessment.
