SSH expands national footprint with mining services deal

Mining services provider SSH Group (ASX:SSH) has entered into a binding agreement to acquire Elphinstone Mechanical Services (EMS), strengthening its ability to deliver integrated mining services across major operations.

Under the deal, SSH will pay up to $3 million comprising a combination of cash and shares. The transaction is expected to be completed prior to 30 June 2026, subject to customary conditions precedent.

EMS brings over 20 years of operating history and expertise in heavy mobile equipment maintenance, shutdown support, and field services. The integration of the company, alongside KMH and SSH Mining, is expected to drive operational efficiencies, improve utilisation, and cross-client opportunities across the platform.

SSH Chief Operating Officer Stefan Finney says this acquisition marks a key step in scaling the group’s national capability.

“Importantly, this is a West Australian growth story,” Finney says.

“We’re building on strong local foundations and scaling them nationally, creating a more capable and connected mining services platform.”

EMS Founders Shane and Jody Elphinstone say they have spent more than 20 years building EMS into a trusted name in the industry.

“This next phase allows us to grow that capability while staying true to the way we operate and the standards our clients rely on,” Elphinstone says.

“This alignment between EMS and SSH is clear, with a strong cultural and operational fit and a shared understanding of delivering in environments where safety and performance are critical.”

SSH Group operates across Australia’s mining, civil, and construction sectors, providing equipment and workforce resources and mining services to major mining operations and capital projects.
