Southern Cross moves from Pink Market to OTCQX

Southern Cross Gold (ASX:SX2) has moved from the Pink Market to be approved to trade on the OTCQX Best Market, under the ticker symbol SXGCF.

The OTCQX Best Market is the highest level of OTC Markets, which operates markets on which more than 12,000 US and international securities trade.

Southern Cross, which has a market capitalisation of $1.53 billion, says trading on the OTCQX enhances visibility and accessibility to US investors.

To qualify for the OTCQX, companies must meet high financial standards, follow best-practice corporate governance, and demonstrate compliance with applicable securities laws.

CEO Michael Hudson says with the company now trading on the Australian Securities Exchange, Toronto Stock Exchange, and OTCQX, it has achieved true round-the-clock trading across the world’s major mining investment markets.

“This global platform connects Australian investors who understand our local advantages, Canadian investors with deep mining expertise, and now enhanced access for US investors seeking exposure to critical minerals and exceptional gold grades,” Hudson says.

“With our strong cash position and aggressive 200km drill program underway, we’re excited to engage with an expanded US investor base as we advance this world-class discovery just 60km from Melbourne.”

Golden opportunity

Southern Cross Gold operates three exploration projects, Sunday Creek, Redcastle, and Mt Isa, located in Victoria and Queensland.

Gold mine supply world-wide is expected to grow by 2% to around 3,800 tonnes in 2026. although output from mines under-construction and in the Feasibility Study stage will likely offset falling output from existing operations.

Mine supply is projected to remain above 3,800 tonnes in 2027. However, lower gold prices are likely to result in a slowdown in new and existing mine production.

Like miners in other nations, Australian miners are responding to record prices and increasing supply where possible. DISR notes further expansions to existing mines are expected over the outlook period.

New mill capacity will also be coming online which will allow total output to rise. Australia’s gold production is forecast to increase year-on-year by about 6% 2025 to 319 tonnes. Production is projected to rise over the outlook period, reaching 360 tonnes a year by 2027.
