Southern Cross Gold intersects up to 249.5g/t Au at Sunday Creek Project, Victoria

Southern Cross Gold (ASX:SXG) has intersected grades up to 249.5g/t Au in step out drilling at the Sunday Creek Project in Victoria.

The company reports that the ‘high-grade’ gold intersected in drillhole SDDSC061 is a large 270m step out, vertically below the Rising Sun Shoot.

Drillhole SDDSC061 intersected with 12m @ 7.4g/t Au-Eq from 688m, including 0.3m @ 249.5g/t from 691.1m.

Additionally, drillhole SDDSC063, which is a 200m step out from prior drilling at Apollo East prospect, intersected with 2.7m @ 4.4g/t Au-Eq (3.4g/t Au, 0.7% Sb) from 26.2m, including 0.5m @ 17.2g/t Au-Eq (12.2g/t Au, 3.2% Sb) from 26.2m.

Commenting on the drill results, Southern Cross Gold Managing Director, Michael Hudson, says: “The development of free gold, with the concurrent reduction of antimony grades is important in this transitioning system and is similar to what is observed in similar epizonal deposits that have been tested to depth, including Fosterville and Costerfield.

Our footprint of high-grade mineralisation is now extending both along strike and to depth…”

Our footprint of high-grade mineralisation is now extending both along strike and to depth, with the distance between SDDSC063 and SDDSC061 being 935m, with mineralisation now extending the main drill area over 1,350m.”

Southern Cross’s wholly owned Sunday Creek Project is a shallow orogenic Fosterville-style deposit, located 60km north of Melbourne and covers 16,900 hectares of both granted exploration licences and a single granted retention licence.

The company reports that four rigs are currently progressing drilling at Sunday Creek and the Golden Dyke, Rising Sun, and Apollo prospects.

Additionally, 9 holes are being geologically processed and analysed with 4 holes in drill progress. The company will provide continual news flow regarding these holes.

Southern Cross also reports that drillholes awaiting assays or in progress, currently include the deepest drillholes drilled on the project at Rising Sun and Apollo. In addition, drillhole SDDSC064 is the first hole to exceed 1km depth on the project.

Southern Cross Gold is a Victorian natural resource company engaged in the exploration of precious and base minerals. The company currently operates four exploration projects, including Mt Isa exploration tenements in Queensland, Sunday Creek, Redcastle, and Whroo in Victoria.
