Solis flags Cinto as a ‘compelling’ copper target

Solis Minerals (ASX:SLM) has hailed the Cinto Project in Peru as a “compelling” copper porphyry target, after identifying more mineralisation from channel samples.

The company said in a statement results indicate porphyry copper mineralisation of various styles across a potential area 3km long and 0.75km wide.

CEO Mitch Thomas says the latest results of grades up to 1% copper confirm the potential at the project, where the company has expanded its porphyry copper mineralisation footprint.

“Notably, we’re seeing mineralisation styles similar to those at the major Toquepala mine, just 15km away,” Thomas says.

“Geophysical data from drone magnetometry supports scale potential and highlights new target areas.”

As such, Solis is planning an induced polarisation (IP) survey to support drill target definition, ahead of a drilling program which is expected to take place in the second half of 2025.

The results from the IP survey are expected to be returned sometime this quarter.

Thomas adds that the company’s on-ground team hosted site visits for himself and Technical Director Mike Parer across the project portfolio.

“Visible mineralisation at surface at Ilo Este and Cinto was a highlight,” he says.

“The clear visible prospectivity in our projects very much aligns with our objective of identifying copper-gold resources that have potential to host large-scale mining in one of the world’s leading copper producing regions.”

In conjunction with Cinto’s upcoming exploration program, further drilling is set to begin at the Chancho al Palo and Ilo Este targets this quarter.

While drilling kicks off at those targets, Solis will continue to investigate the potential of Cinto by testing the as yet unexplored low magnetic anomalies through a combination of mapping and rock geochemistry.

Solis Minerals currently holds 76 exploration concessions for 65,100 hectares in southwestern Peru. The project areas are considered highly prospective for iron-oxide copper gold and porphyry copper mineralisation.

The company’s portfolio of assets comprise the Ilo Esta and Ilo Norte Project, Cinto Copper and Chocolate projects.
