Sierra Nevada to tackle more drilling at Warrior Mine

Sierra Nevada Gold (ASX:SNX) is scheduling further drilling for later this month at its Warrior Mine — a potentially ‘company-making’ project — in Nevada, US.

This news comes after Sierra received results from its reconnaissance mapping, rock chip sampling, and portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) soil programs at the OMCO claim area within the Warrior Project.

Results from these programs have uncovered a ‘significant’ gold-silver (Au-Ag) epithermal system, with ‘drill-ready’ targets and additional ‘highly prospective’ exploration targets.

Sierra says the targets are dubbed Kouta, Jezza, and Stix and have yielded ‘high-grade’ results of up to 6.78 parts per million (ppm) Au and 101ppm Ag at Kouta.

OMCO hosts a ‘large’ area of ‘significant’, high-level, epithermal geochemical anomalism, and alteration within the Jezza target.

The company’s planned upcoming drilling program will comprise 1,000m of reverse circulation (RC) drilling to test the extent and grade of mineralisation within the OMCO epithermal vein systems in the project area.

Initial drilling is planned to begin testing the Kouta target.

Commenting on the new targets, Sierra Nevada Gold Executive Chairman Peter Moore says: “Results of early exploration works at OMCO have discovered several veins and targets requiring further work, including drilling within the Kouta vein system.

The Warrior project has been a focus of the SNX team during the 2023 field season with ‘boots on the ground’ exploration programs completed across the project culminating in an exciting RC drilling program proposed for the high-grade historic Warrior Mine.”

Additional mapping and rock chip sampling are ongoing across the OMCO area, focusing on areas of outcropping mineralisation and geochemical anomalism uncovered through the soil pXRF program.

The company is also continuing discussions regarding a potential partnership over its ‘large-scale’ Blackhawk Copper-Gold Project, also in Nevada. This will allow Sierra to focus on the exploration and development of the Warrior Project.

Warrior is located 32km northwest of Gabbs in Nevada, US. The project consists of 260 20-acre claims covering an area of 21km-square.

Sierra Nevada Gold is a precious and base metals explorer focused on discoveries in Nevada, US. The company’s projects include the Blackhawk, Colorback, Warrior, New Pass, and Generative projects.

As of 30 June 2023, the company had $843,000 cash and cash equivalents at hand, according to its latest quarterly report. On 30 August 2023, Sierra Nevada Gold announced it had completed a rights offer to raise up to $2.8 million.
