Precious and base metals explorer Sierra Nevada Gold (ASX:SNX) is developing drill targets for a reverse circulation (RC) program at its Warrior Gold Project in Nevada, US.
The company reports the drill program, which will be taken on across a ‘large and fertile’ epithermal system in the project area, is scheduled to begin in July 2023, while an ongoing rock chip and portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) sampling and mapping program remains underway.
Sierra Nevada reports sampling at Warrior has demonstrated the ‘high-grade’ nature of historically shallow mined gold veins, with sample W119 returning 74 grams per tonne (g/t) Au from the Discovery Shaft area.
Other ‘significant’ results include sample W121, with 17.55g/t Au from the main Warrior Mine dump; and W128 with 23.2gt Au returned from the Hillside Mine dump.
The company says historic mine dumps were selectively sampled based on vein type to characterise the gold content of the various texturally different veins mined previously across the camp. Additionally, 4 vein styles were selectively sampled and all recorded ore grade intercepts, which indicates that multiple phases of mineralisation are present.
Commenting on the results, Sierra Nevada Gold Executive Chairman Peter Moore says: “Results of the vein characterisation work has advanced our understanding of the mineralising system at Warrior, and analysis of these samples, combined with our previous drilling, is demonstrating more favourable conditions for gold-silver mineralisation the deeper we look.
“These results to date support the potential for a significant discovery at Warrior, and we look forward to the resumption of RC drilling, which is currently planned to start in July”
