Savannah Goldfields (ASX:SVG) expects a decision on the existing Environmental Authority for its Agate Creek Project by 13 July 2026.
The company submitted a change application to the Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) in November 2025 to cover updated pit designs and waste rock management schedules for the project.
Savannah received a preliminary draft Environmental Authority from DETSI on 29 May 2026, along with notice of a 30-business-day extension to the decision period.
The company has commenced early works on site at Agate Creek, in line with existing authorisations, to prepare for immediate post-approval mining.
The Agate Creek Gold Project is located approximately 100km south of the company’s Georgetown Gold Processing Plant and 480km southwest of Cairns in Far North Queensland, with ore reserves of 460,000 tonnes @ 2.50 grams per tonne gold containing 36,800 ounces.
An initial portion of 375,000 tonnes @ 2.65g/t gold containing 31,900 ounces is scheduled to be mined and processed at the Georgetown Gold Processing Plant through the remainder of 2026, 2027, and into 2028.
Savannah Goldfields CEO Brad Sampson says the company recognises DETSI’s constructive engagement over the past nine months and looks forward to finalising the Environmental Authority conditions during the updated decision period.
“We are pleased to now have clarity on the timing for the decision on the changes to the Agate Creek Environmental Authority,” Sampson says.
“The Company plans to continue gold production from alternative feed sources while we await this approval in the near term.”
