Ronin targets entry into Argentinean gold-silver

Ronin Resources (ASX:RON) has submitted mineral exploration applications over 236.37km2 prospective for gold-silver mineralisation in the San Juan Province of Argentina.

The company conducted a preliminary analysis of spectral anomalies across areas available for application and found three areas of interest that are considered prospective for gold and silver mineralisation associated with hydrothermal alteration — making up the La Punilla Project, which is accessible from the San Juan town of Rodeo.

Ronin expects the applications to be granted in three months.

During the intervening period, low-cost follow-up desktop and field mapping will be conducted. Once completed, Ronin will undertake a preliminary assessment of the project’s technical merits.

Chairman Joseph van den Elsen says the La Punilla Project provides the company an entry into the San Juan hotbed of corporate and exploration activity.

“The company’s board has real working experience in San Juan and will draw upon its professional networks to oversee its evaluation and assessment,” Elsen says.

Ronin adds that the three areas within La Punilla are considered to have the “greatest potential” to host mineralisation as they have the most compelling evidence of Miocene intrusive and hydrothermal activity.

Ronin says it will continue to review other opportunities in the San Juan province and elsewhere.

This news comes after Challenger Gold (ASX:CEL) secured environmental approval for its Hualilán Gold Project in the San Juan Province, which is the first gold project in the region to receive approval in 17 years.

The San Juan Province hosts several gold-silver deposits and multiple giant copper-gold porphyry deposits.

Ronin Resources is a mineral explorer focused on two projects in Colombia. The company’s flagship Vetas Project is considered prospective for thermal coal, while the Santa Rosa Project is an early-stage gold and copper project.
