Resolute Mining (ASX:RSG) has formally approved the final investment decision (FID) for the Doropo Gold Project in Côte d’Ivoire, marking a ‘transformational’ step toward construction and production.
Resolute has a strategy to grow annual gold production above 500,000 ounces by the end of 2028 and notes that this positive FID brings the company closer to this goal.
The FID comes following the completion of technical, economic, environmental, and social evaluations, as well as the receipt of the mining permit from the Council of Ministers in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Doropo Project is expected to become a cornerstone asset in Resolute’s development pipeline. Construction is expected to commence in H1 2026.
Resolute has outlined an initial minelife of approximately 13 years for Doropo, with opportunities for expansion throughout the region.
Managing Director Chris Eger says that the decision to FID is an important milestone for the company.
“This decision reflects the quality of the Doropo Gold Project, the robustness of our technical work, and our confidence in the operating environment,” Eger says.
“We expect the project to generate significant shareholder value whilst delivering enduring benefits to host communities and national partners.”’
Resolute will now begin the construction phase for Doropo. The company has a strong balance sheet but will continue to evaluate potential funding options as needed.
