Recharge Metals (ASX:REC) has identified 4 ‘high-priority’ lithium target areas from generative exploration work at its Wapistan Lithium Project in Canada.
The $22.27 million market capitalisation company and technical consultancy Dahrouge Geological Consulting took on the exploration work alongside target identification and ranking, which will assist in planning for a maiden field program to begin in September.
All of the targets within the Wapistan Project have the potential to host lithium-bearing pegmatites, according to Recharge.

Commenting on the targets identified, Recharge Metals Managing Director Felicity Repacholi-Muir says: “The 4 high-priority targets identified at the Wapistan Lithium Project by Dahrouge provide major impetus for Recharge’s forthcoming field activities.
“I am especially encouraged by the scale of these targets and the potential for lithium-bearing pegmatites to be present“
I am especially encouraged by the scale of these targets and the potential for lithium-bearing pegmatites to be present, based on our neighbours’ early success and these datasets. In addition, the ability to access these by hiking in from the highway demonstrates the advantages Wapistan has with its excellent access to infrastructure.
The relaxation of the fire restrictions over our 2 projects late last week was welcome news, and we look forward to deploying field teams to Wapistan and Express shortly.”
Recharge and Dahrouge are currently finalising the logistics of the work programs now that fire restrictions have eased. It is expected that exploration activities will begin ‘relatively quickly’, due to the ‘excellent’ infrastructure and access to Wapistan.
The target areas are located within 5km of the Billy Diamond Highway and the Wemindji access road. The company says the field crews will be able to traverse to targets from the highway rather than requiring helicopter support.
Recharge Metals is an exploration company focused on the Express and Wapistan Lithium Projects in the ‘world-class’ James Bay lithium district in Canada, as well as on progressing the copper-focused Brandy Hill South Project in Western Australia.
As of 30 June 2023, the company had just under $2.6 million cash at hand after completing a share placement to raise $3 million for the acquisition of the Express Projectaalongside a share placement to raise $1 million for the acquisition of the Wapistan Project.
