Prairie Lithium (ASX:PL9) has received a commercial Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) unit at its namesake project in Saskatchewan, Canada, as it advances toward phase one production targeted for the December quarter of 2026.
According to Prairie Lithium, the four-column commercial-scale DLE unit is approximately four times larger than the commercial DLE system currently deployed at Standard Lithium’s (TSX-V:SLI) project in Arkansas, US.
The company says delivery of the unit marks a milestone ahead of equipment installation and commissioning, which remain targeted for the December quarter. The unit complements substantial infrastructure already established on site, including production and disposal wells, electrical infrastructure, and the power transformer.
“The arrival of North America’s largest commercial direct lithium extraction unit marks another defining milestone for the company as we advance towards becoming one of North America’s newest commercial lithium producers,” Executive Chairman Paul Lloyd says.
“Over the past 18 months we have continued to execute against each of the major milestones required to advance Prairie Lithium toward commercial production.”
Lloyd says the company has de-risked the project through regulatory approvals, construction of key site infrastructure, securing a binding 100% offtake agreement with Hydro Lithium (KOSDAQ:101670), and now the delivery of the commercial DLE unit.
Prairie Lithium secured a binding offtake agreement with Hydro Lithium covering 100% of phase one lithium production in April 2026. It says the project will use existing regional infrastructure alongside a phased development model.
“Supported by our existing infrastructure, scalable development model, and binding offtake agreement, Prairie Lithium is well positioned to become one of North America’s leading commercial DLE projects,” Lloyd says.
