Pilbara Gold (ASX:PGL) has commenced a 12,000m reverse circulation drilling program at its Roe Hills Gold Project near Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.
The drilling targets a 1.8km mineralised corridor at the Terra prospect and breaks an eight-year hiatus in exploration at the Terra and Caliburn prospects.
The majority of the program will focus on Terra, where historic drilling returned 35m at 1 gram per tonne gold (Au) from 116.5m and 23m at 1.43g/t Au from 104m.
A further 1,600m is earmarked for Caliburn, located 4km southeast of Terra, where historic results include 22m at 1.55g/t Au from 144m.
“We are targeting significant gold resources at Roe Hills and recognise that historic reconnaissance drilling has laid the foundation for us to achieve our goal,” Managing Director Dr Peter Turner says.
“It is an exciting project and in the right area, and this drilling will quickly determine the scale of the mineralised corridor.”
The Roe Hills Project lies 100km east of Kalgoorlie, approximately 50km east of Vault Minerals’ (ASX:VAU) Mt Monger operations and 50km south of Ramelius Resources’ (ASX:RMS) 1.8-million-ounce (Moz) Roe Gold Project. Pilbara Gold is well-funded, with approximately $30.5 million in cash.
The company plans to complete the 12,000m drilling program this quarter, with results to be systematically reviewed for a potential maiden mineral resource estimate over the Terra and Caliburn prospects.
Pilbara Gold is a Western Australian gold explorer advancing the 2.1Moz Mt York Project and the Roe Hills Project, with a portfolio of exploration assets across the Pilbara and Eastern Goldfields.
