Perseus Mining’s CEO exits

Perseus Mining’s (ASX:PRU) long-serving CEO Jeff Quartermaine will retire from the company on 30 September 2025, and is set to be replaced by former Newcrest Mining’s (ASX:NCM) COO Craig Jones.

Quartermaine, who has been CEO for 12 years’, transformed the company from a struggling single-mine, single-country company to a multi-mine, multi-jurisdictional gold producer, developer, and explorer.

Perseus now has three operating gold mines – Edikan in Ghana, and Yaouré and Sissingué in Côte d’Ivoire. A fourth mine is currently being built in Tanzania, which is set to begin production in Q1 2027.

Quartermaine says while working at Perseus, the company has generated benefits for all of its stakeholders, including many in its host communities in Africa.

“Along the way we have faced a myriad of challenges including events such as global COVID-pandemic, but we have emerged stronger than ever, and the company is now well-positioned to continue our success into the future,” he says.

Meanwhile, Jones joins Perseus with more than 25 years of global experience, having worked across Australia, Canada, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea.

Beyond his executive roles, Jones was a Newcrest nominee director and was the company’s representative on joint venture committees including the Morobe Mining Joint Venture in Papua New Guinea and the Red Chris Joint Venture in British Columbia.

Perseus Mining is focused on rapidly growing Africa’s gold sector via exploration, development, and production activities.
