Perpetual Resources (ASX:PEC) has received confirmation from the Government of Western Australia that the Environmental Protection Authority (WA EPA) will be assessing a proposal for the company’s Beharra Silica Sand Project.
The WA EPA has selected a ‘part 4’ approval process to assess the Beharra Project.
In preparation for this decision, the company has been preparing parallel part 4 submission documentation, with these submission documents now in an ‘advanced state of readiness’, which is planned to reduce the time period to final approval to 9 to 12 months.
Additionally, Perpetual says the decision for the WA EPA to assess the project provides ‘significant’ regulatory certainty to discussions currently underway with various offtake parties. These discussions remain ongoing, with further updates to be provided in due course.
The company also says ‘significant’ and comprehensive environmental studies all support Beharra to be a ‘low-risk’ environmental impact project.
Perpetual Resources is a focused explorer of silica sands, aiming to produce high-purity silica for export to the high-growth Asian markets. The company’s flagship Beharra Project lies 300km north of Perth in Western Australia.
The Beharra Project comprises a single exploration licence, E70/5221, covering an effective land area of 56.8km-square.
