Perenti’s multi-million-dollar deal at Agnew

Perenti’s (ASX:PRN) underground mining subsidiary Barminco will continue its mining operations at the Agnew Gold Mine in Western Australia for Gold Fields (JSE:GFI) under a $500 million contract.

Barminco will provide another three years of services at the mine, including underground development, production and related mining services that began on 1 January 2025 with the option to extend for an additional 12 months.

The subsidiary has been providing mining services at Agnew since 2010, employing over 300 people across the site.

Managing Director Mark Norwell says the company is pleased to extend its relationship with Gold Fields.

“Gold Fields is one of our most longstanding and valued clients, with history of more than 30 years working alongside the various Perenti businesses,” Norwell says.

“Our Australian operations are important for Barminco to deliver enduring value and certainty for our clients and shareholders.”

Mining.com.au recently reported a spike in the price of gold on the increased prospects the US Federal Reserve will cut rates later this year, with the safehaven metal currently sitting at US$3,235.46 ($5,048.46) as of 19 May 2025.

The Agnew Gold Mine covers tenements spanning 59,398 hectares, north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, with a mineral resource of 3.5 million ounces.

Founded in 1987, Perenti is a mining services company offering surface and underground mining across 12 countries.
