Peregrine begins on-ground exploration at Pilgangoora Lithium Project, WA

Peregrine Gold (ASX:PGD) reports it has started on-ground exploration at its Pilgangoora North Lithium Project, located near Port Hedland in Western Australia.

After an initial reconnaissance visit to the Pilgangoora North tenement in February confirmed the lithium prospectivity with stream samples indicating lithium (Li), tantalum (Ta) and niobium (Nb) with highlights including 289ppm Li and 1769ppm Ta.

Peregrine commenced further exploration activities on October 5, and the exploration program will now be expanded to include reconnaissance stream sediment sampling over the entire tenement, including immediate follow up of previous lithium, tantalum, gold and silver anomalism.

Peregrine Gold is a Western Australia-based gold and lithium exploration company, operating in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia.

The company was granted Exploration Licence E45/5775 which is located along strike from the Pilgangoora lithium operations of Pilbara Minerals (ASX:PLS) and hosts abundant mapped pegmatites.

E45/5775 is situated in a favourable geological setting which hosts numerous lithium occurrences.

The mineral resource at Pilgangoora for June 2021 comprised a total of 308.9Mt grading 1.14% Li (spodumene) and 105ppm Ta.

There has been limited drilling and historical exploration conducted over E45/5775, and a review of all past work is underway.

Peregrine also holds a 100% interest in the Newman Gold Project consisting of 8 granted exploration licences (9 applications) covering a total of 1,894km-square located on the Sylvania Inlier in the southwest of the Pilbara region.

The project is situated approximately 30km south and west of Newman, and approximately 1,000km north-northeast of Perth at the southern edge of the Hamersley area of Western Australia.

The tenements neighbour Capricorn Metal’s Karlawinda Gold Project.

The tenement package comprises predominantly greenfield tenements prospective for gold that historically have been underexplored and have had a focus on other metals such as iron ore.

Peregrine considers that the tenements may contain additional gold prospects and warrant further investigation.

The Mallina Gold Project comprises 4 tenements covering approximately 1,728km-square of the Mallina Basin in the Northern Pilbara of Western Australia.

De Grey Mining’s Hemi deposit is located approximately 120km to the southwest of Mallina, with historical geophysical data suggesting that the majority of the tenement package is underlain by the Mallina Formation.

Mallina comprises one of the largest tenement holdings assembled within the Mallina Basin, of which 3 of the 4 tenements were applied for prior to the discovery of Hemi.

Hemi is identified as an intrusion hosted gold deposit which is a new style of gold mineralisation in the Pilbara region.

These intrusions are hosted in the Mallina Formation within the Mallina Basin, part of the De Grey Superbasin.

There has been limited drilling and historical gold exploration conducted over the Mallina Gold Project.

The limited geological understanding of Mallina has been derived through geophysical data with some previous interpretation utilised to obtain an overall understanding of the geology of the area.
