Peak Minerals (ASX:PUA) has completed a co-funded diamond drilling (DD) program at its Earaheedy Project in Western Australia.
The company says drilling comprised 2 diamond holes and an additional reverse circulation (RC) hole that were designed to test mineralisation models, faults, and stratigraphy, as well as follow up on a previous intersection of 3m @ 1.5% copper (Cu) from 86m completed in 2021.
Drilling was also designed to provide a further understanding of faults and the elevated copper, nickel, cobalt, zinc, lead, and sulphur values in an ‘extensive’ 1.1km by 2km blanket.
Peak Minerals notes the 2 diamond holes testing a versatile time domain electromagnetic (VTEM) anomaly proximal to a previously identified copper blanket and the conceptual mineralisation model were conducted utilising a $132,000 grant under the Western Australian Government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS).
The company also notes the RC hole conducted to follow up on the 2021 intersection ended in mineralisation.
Samples from drilling have been sent for assaying, with results expected in Q2 2023.
“We have now successfully completed our drilling program at Earaheedy testing VTEM anomalies and providing further insight into the geology and stratigraphy in the area”
Addressing the completion of drilling, Peak Minerals Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jennifer Neild says: “We have now successfully completed our drilling program at Earaheedy testing VTEM anomalies and providing further insight into the geology and stratigraphy in the area. We believe the Yerrida and Earaheedy Basins hold great potential for further copper discoveries beyond the known copper mineralisation. We look forward to sharing these results, expected in Q2 2023.”
Peak Minerals is an ASX-listed mineral exploration and development company working to unlock an unrecognised magmatic sulphide system. The company currently has a diversified multi-commodity portfolio of quality, underexplored Australian copper and nickel assets centred around the known copper and kaolin producing regions of Western Australia and Victoria.
The Earaheedy project is situated 28km southeast of the Degrussa copper-gold mine and comprises the western extremity of the Earaheedy Basin which holds the Cork Tree and Merah prospects.
Other assets included in Peak Minerals exploration arsenal include the Green Rocks and Kimberley projects in Western Australia, as well as the Yendon Kaolin-Rare Earth Elements (REEs) Project in Victoria.
