Patriot Battery Metals (ASX:PMT) is expecting to update the Feasibility Study for the Shaakichiuwaanaan Project in Québec, Canada, in September 2025.
The updated Feasibility Study will support Patriot’s environment impact assessment submission, which is also expected to be finalised and submitted in September.
This news comes after BBA Engineering completed the updated and finalised block model for the CV5 pegmatite. The block model has now been handed over to G Mining, a project integrator and qualified person for the upcoming mineral reserve.
Handover of the updated block model allows for work to begin on the final mine design for the Feasibility Study based on the indicated resources contained within.
Patriot Battery, which has a market capitalisation of $479.72 million, says the open pit and underground mine design teams are fully engaged and completing the final mine design, along with all the other supporting consultants on the study’s deliverables.
CEO Ken Brinsden says building on the progress achieved over the last three years at Shaakichiuwaanaan, the team is advanced this year with multiple parallel workstreams underway surrounding resource development, environmental studies, and documentation, and feasibility studies.
“With the support of our key strategic shareholders Volkswagen, the company has been unwavering in progressing the project as quickly and efficiently as possible, ensuring the project’s preeminent position among North American lithium development proposals,” Brinsden says.
Prior to launching the Feasibility Study, various work programs have been conducted including fieldwork, desktop, and lab work. Following this work, the company determined that the Feasibility Study will be progressed to closely resemble the scope proposed within the previously reported preliminary economic assessment.
The Shaakichiuwaanaan Project, located in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region, hosts a resource of 80.1 million tonnes @ 1.44% lithium oxide in the indicated category and 62.5 million tonnes @ 1.31% lithium oxide in the inferred resource.
The CV5 pegmatite, which forms the bulk of the resource, is accessible year-round by all-season road and is situated 14km from a major hydroelectric powerline corridor.
