Pacgold (ASX:PGO) is restarting a reverse circulation drilling program, comprising 10,000m, at the Alice River Gold Project in North Queensland as it seeks to expand new mineralisation and test new targets first identified in the last year.
Targets to be tested include Jerry Dodds, South target area, Victoria and The Shadows, with infill and extension drilling also designed for the Posie and Central area.
On the Central target area, drilling will focus on the thick shallow mineralisation in the upper 70m of the deposit, never previously drilled by Pacgold.
Managing Director Matthew Boyes says the company is starting to test a multitude of new targets while also expanding the known areas of mineralisation.
“The team now has eight full months of drilling and exploration ahead of them to really unlock the potential in what I believe is an outstanding exploration asset with truly exciting potential,” Boyes says.
A total of eight holes for 1,118m of drilling has been completed to date. The company has submitted 490 samples for analysis to ALS laboratories in Townsville, Queensland. The initial results are anticipated in late May.
Pacgold says drilling will continue throughout the entire field season, with aircore and diamond drilling programs to begin at later dates.
Once regional access is fully reinstated, induced polarisation geophysics and drone magnetics will begin. Crews are currently mobilising to Alice River to begin these activities next month.
The Alice River Gold Project, covering 377km2, comprises 30km of prospective gold targets and sits at the northern end of the Northeast Queensland Mineral Province.
