Oryx Global Partners bolsters team

Oryx Global Partners has appointed Richard Davis as an operations partner, and Bob Finch and Manuel Stotz as senior advisors, strengthening its senior team in London and Abu Dhabi.

The investment firm, which is dedicated to facilitating the energy transition and securing supply chains through strategic investments in the minerals value chain, says Davis is a veteran resources investor with over 30 years’ experience.

Davis began his career as a geologist in the early 1990s before moving into fund management. He spent 19 years at BlackRock where he was a Managing Director and ran the BlackRock Commodities Income investment trust.

In 2014, he joined the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) in Doha to set-up and lead the Commodities Department and run one of the world’s largest commodity equity portfolios.

He holds a BA degree in Natural Sciences (Geology) from Trinity College, Dublin, and an MSc in Mineral Exploration from the Royal School of Mines at Imperial College, London. Davis is also a holder of the Investment Management Certificate.

He will work alongside the Oryx team in investment selection and execution, while also supporting the oversight and management of Oryx’s portfolio companies to drive implementation of the firm’s value-add strategy in operations..

Finch is an energy and resources industry veteran, with over 40 years’ experience in commodity trading and investments, having served at Vitol as the head of trading and a board member.

Stotz is a frontier markets investment manager and founder and CEO of Kingsway Capital.

Finch and Stotz will provide strategic advice regarding investment strategy, the evolution of supply chains, and the role of developing markets.
