Laura Tyler and Elizabeth Gaines join Oryx Global

Investment firm Oryx Global Partners has appointed renowned mining leaders Laura Tyler as Partner and Elizabeth Gaines as Senior Advisor.

As Partner, Tyler will serve as a member of the investment committee, where she will oversee the technical and operational evaluation of investments and provide operational oversight for portfolio companies.

Tyler has held numerous high-profile executive roles at mining giant BHP (ASX:BHP), including Chief Technical Officer, lead executive for the board sustainability committee, Chief Geoscientist, and Asset President for the Olympic Dam and Cannington mines.

As Senior Advisor, Gaines will provide strategic advice regarding investment strategy, the energy transition, decarbonisation, and international trade.

Gaines has over 30 years of experience in executive and non-executive roles across diverse industries. She is currently the Executive Director and Global Green Ambassador for Fortescue (ASX:FMG).

Gaines was also the first woman to run a major publicly listed Australian mining company and spearheaded Fortescue’s development during a transformative period.

Oryx Managing Partner Paul Schaffer says both women are two of the “most accomplished” executives in the industry.

“Laura’s exceptional technical and operational expertise demonstrated through her career, alongside Elizabeth’s proven commercial nous through her extensive international business experience, add immense value to our team,” Schaffer says.

“At Oryx, we are committed to building a world-class leadership team to deliver significant and impactful investments across the minerals value chain, fostering a sustainable energy transition and securing supply chains.”

These appointments also follow the recent additions of Richard Davis as Operations Partner and Bob Finch, Manuel Stotz, Patrick Loftus-Hills, and Peter Bryant as Senior Advisors.

Oryx Global Partners is a specialist investment firm focused on facilitating the energy transition and securing supply chains through strategic investments in the minerals value chain.
