Orbminco (ASX:OB1) has begun geophysical surveying at its Bronze Fox Copper-Gold Project located in the Southern Gobi region of Mongolia to prepare for an upcoming drilling program.
Covering 175km2 in the Southern Gobi porphyry belt, this program will target priority prospects West Kasulu and Shuteen North induced polarisation and ground gravity surveys.
Previous sampling at West Kasulu indicates a “high-grade” copper-gold extension that trends northwest beneath shallow cover, while Shuteen North has recorded extensive sub-cropping copper mineralisation and multiple intrusive systems, which will be targeted in surveys and upcoming drilling scheduled for Q3 2025.
The company believes the nearby Tsagaan Suvarga copper-molybdenum and Kharmagtai copper-gold deposits further highlights the prospectivity of the project and overall reach of the belt.
As previously reported by Mining.com.au, Mongolia exports about 1.4 million tonnes of copper concentrate each year, with potential to ramp up to 2.5 million tonnes in future years.
The Bronze Fox Project is a part of a joint venture agreement with Kincora Copper (ASX:KCC), signed in August 2024 to allow the company the right to earn up to an 80% stake in the project under the terms of spending US$4 million ($6.2 million) over five years.
Following this period, Orbminco will have the right to acquire 100% interest in the project.
Orbminco Managing Director Ralf Kriege says Mongolian Projects especially in the Southern Gobi Copper–Gold Belt receive unprecedented attention due to the globally perceived future Copper supply constraints and related corporate activities, including the recent Xanadu offer.
Orbminco, which has a market capitalisation of $4.79 million, says it is the last independent foreign-listed explorer with interest in Southern Gobi’s copper-gold projects.
