Opawica Explorations

Opawica awaits assays before firing Bazooka’s next drill move

Opawica Explorations (TSX-V:OPW) has intersected a 28-metre mineralised zone at its Bazooka Property in Quebec, returning high XRF readings including a standout point of 92 grams per tonne of gold.

This news comes after the Canadian mineral explorer completed the phase one program which has delivered multiple thick intercepts and high x-ray fluorescence (XRF) readings of up to 234 grams per tonne gold.

Drillhole OP-25-31 intersected a 28m zone of shearing, silicification, quartz veining, and some arsenic. The hole intercepts the target zone from 307m to 335m, consisting of well-sheared, silicified and quartz veining sediments.

The presence of silicification can indicate the proximity of potential ore bodies.

Opawica reports the XRF readings of arsenic ranges from 1,000 parts per million (ppm) as at the beginning of the zone, to 200ppm as at the end of the zone. The central part of the zone maintained a 1,000ppm.

CEO Blake Morgan says with nearly 7,000m of high-priority targets remaining on Bazooka and 10,000m high-priority targets remaining on the Arrowhead area, the team is “eagerly” awaiting assays.

“So far we have been ecstatic with what we have been seeing,” Morgan says.

“Multiple thick intercepts with fantastic XRF reading for gold and nickel and on top of that, visible gold. We will have some more updates shortly and hope to get the assays back over the next few weeks.”

XRF is a non-destructive analytical technique used to determine the elemental composition of materials such as drill cores. XRF analysers determine the chemistry of a sample by measuring the fluorescent x-ray emitted from a sample when it is excited by a primary x-ray source.

The Bazooka Project is adjacent to the Wasamac Project which contains a gold resource of 1.767 million ounces of gold.

Opawica Explorations is a junior mineral explorer focused on precious and base metals within the Rouyn-Noranda region of the Abitibi Gold Belt in Québec, Canada.
