Octava zones in on new lithium prospect at Talga

Green energy metals explorer Octava Minerals (ASX:OCT) has identified a new prospect through field reconnaissance work at the Talga Project in Western Australia.

The new prospect, which has been named Nimerry, is located 3km to the east of the Pinnacle Well lithium prospect, and about 10km northeast of the Archer lithium deposit which hosts a resource of 18 million tonnes @ 1% lithium (Li2O)

Octave says multiple pegmatites have been identified at the Nimerry prospect, noting they are hosted within greenstones close to the granite greenstone contact, which is an important target geology used in the discovery of lithium mineralised pegmatites in the Pilbara.

These pegmatite outcrops varied in size, with the largest identified being about 30m in width and over 60m in length. Early indications are that Nimerry could be similar in size to Pinnacle Well, which stands at 1.5km-square.

The company says the pegmatites have been sampled and sent to the laboratory for analysis, with results expected by the end of February.

Octava also reports it has received assay results from the initial soil sampling program consisting of 2,001 samples, and rock chip sampling program consisting of 39 samples collected.

The company says the results confirm the large 1.5km-square lithium anomaly previously identified at Pinnacle Well using pXRF Li analysis of the soil samples. It also notes a ‘significant’ number of assay results were in excess of 100 parts per million (ppm) Li, with a maximum value of 203ppm Li.

Similar to the Pinnacle Well prospect, Octava reports Nimerry is also proximal to the Moolyella Monzogranite and other late-stage granite intrusions which are considered as the source intrusions to the lithium pegmatite mineralisation in the region. It also has similar proximity to the Mooleyella Tin and Tantalum alluvial field.

As announced by the company in November, multiple pegmatite targets have been identified at Talga through remote sensing work, with a number of priority areas now being targeted with field evaluation. Multiple targets have now been identified in the field at Pinnacle Well and Nimerry.

Octava reports the Talga lithium project has about 20km of granite-greenstone contact zones which are prospective for lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) mineralisation with new targets being added.

The company reports it is conducting a systematic exploration program to identify and prioritise targets for an ‘extensive’ drill program to commence at the conclusion of the current wet season. This drilling program will test prospects defined by ‘significant’ soil geochemistry anomalies coincident with ‘favourable’ structures within targeted geology for field mapping.

Octava says results from the samples that were collected are expected by the end of February. It also notes large areas of the Talga project remain untested by any soil geochemistry for LCT-type pegmatites, and as a result, further soil sampling programs are planned to assist with focusing exploration work.

Octava Minerals is a Western Australia-based green energy metals exploration and development company. The company’s project portfolio includes the Talga Project in the East Pilbara region, the East Kimberley Project which comprises the Panton North Project, and the Copernicus North Project, and the Yallalong Project located 220km northeast of Geraldton.

The Talga Project covers an area of about 211km-sqaure across 8 granted exploration licences, and is considered prospective for lithium and gold mineralisation.
