NovaRed Mining (CSE:NRED) has interpreted a large magnetic anomaly at its Wilmac Copper-Gold Project in British Columbia, Canada, as part of a regional intrusive system that includes the producing Copper Mountain Mine.
The company says the high-intensity anomaly underlying Wilmac may represent the western portion of a composite batholith segmented and vertically displaced by the regional Boundary and Whipsaw faults.
“The magnetic anomaly underlying the Wilmac project is not a stand-alone feature. It is interpreted to be the western segment of a much larger batholith that has been pulled apart and vertically displaced by two regional faults,” CEO Brian Goss says.
The interpretation draws on high-resolution airborne and ground magnetic surveys and 3D induced polarisation/audio-magnetotelluric (IP/AMT) data acquired from the project’s previous optionee.
NovaRed says the Copper Mountain camp lies on the upthrown block east of the Boundary fault, while the Wilmac anomaly occupies the downthrown western block at greater depth and remains largely undrilled.
The company interprets the Boundary fault as having displaced the western block downward, potentially preserving deeper portions of the intrusive and hydrothermal systems.
NovaRed has identified three structurally controlled segments: the Copper Mountain block east of the Boundary fault, the Whipsaw block between the Boundary and Whipsaw faults, and the Lamont block west of the Whipsaw fault.
Each is being assessed as a separate target for porphyry copper–gold mineralisation.
The company is advancing its 2026 field programme, comprising four IP/AMT surveys across the North Lamont, West Lamont, Wilmac, and Plume grids, expanded soil sampling, and an initial drilling program subject to permit approval.
The 16,078-hectare project lies in the Quesnel porphyry belt southwest of Princeton and approximately 10km west of Hudbay Minerals’ (TSX:HBM) Copper Mountain Mine. The mine hosts proven and probable mineral reserves of 345 million tonnes grading 0.26% copper and 0.12 grams per tonne gold.
